Intent
It is the intent of PNM Construction,
Inc. to comply with all OSHA
standards. In addition to OSHA
standards, PNM Construction, Inc.
will enforce to its employees and
subcontractors the safety plan set
forth below.
PNM Construction, Inc.
employees a safety director who, in
conjunction with the project manager
and project supervisor, shall enforce
the policies set forth below. The safety
director shall perform safety inspections
of the jobsite periodically and more
often during steel/wood frame erection
and roofing phases of the project. PNM
Construction, Inc. shall employ only
subcontractors with the knowledge and
ability to abide by this policy and shall
remove from the jobsite any
subcontractor or employee who
repeatedly ignores or violates this policy.
All employees and subcontractors shall
attend a safety orientation meeting prior
to being allowed on the jobsite. Additionally,
all employees and subcontractor employees
shall attend a weekly safety meeting chaired
by the PNM Construction, Inc supervisor
and/or subcontractors representative with
documentation forwarded to PNM
Construction, Inc. safety director weekly.

Weekly production meetings, chaired by PNM
Construction, Inc. site supervisor, project
manager, and attended by all subcontractor
foremen, will be held for the purpose of
scheduling and identifying potential safety
requirements.

PNM Construction, Inc. has a Safety Program,
which includes Material Safety Data Sheets
that shall be stored conspicuously on the
jobsite. Subcontractors shall be required to
submit copies of their programs to PNM
Construction, Inc. for storage on site.
Any employee or subcontractor employee found
in violation of the safety standards set forth
below shall be reprimanded as follows:

  · First Violation Documented - Verbal Warning 
  · Second Violation Written Warning
       - 6 Month Probation 
  · Third Violation - Written Warning Minimum 3
    Days Suspension - 1 Year Probation 
  · Fourth Violation - Termination
PNM Construction, Inc. reserves the right to
advance to maximum penalties in extreme
circumstances.
Dedicate adequate pre-construction time to
allow the project supervisor, project manager
and corporate safety director to review project
and identify potential safety risk prior to
mobilization.
All employees SHALL WEAR HARDHATS AT
ALL TIMES, no exceptions shall be made; eye
protection and hearing protection is required.
The use of alcohol or illicit drugs is strictly
prohibited.
All employees are to be familiar with PNM
Construction's Safety Program and know
where MSDS sheets are kept on site

Site Work

All equipment over one ton in capacity
shall have an audible back-up alarm.

All trenches more than four (4) feet in
depth shall be sloped to OSHA standards.
Shoring or trench boxes shall be sued
when sloped excavations are not practical.

All excavations shall be protected by
barricades and temporary walkways will
be set up around work areas when existing
walkways are disturbed.

Ladders shall be used to enter and exit
excavations.

Proper hearing protection shall be used
during the use of equipment which generates
a 90-decibel noise level or greater.

Speed limits will be strictly obeyed and
courteous driving habits used.

All hazardous material brought onto site will
be accompanied by an MSDS.

Concrete

All form staging brackets are to have proper
railing systems.

All exposed reinforcing bar ends are to be
covered with protective caps.

Wear eye protection during concrete placement
and vibration.

All forms and bracing material are to be free of
nails when removed.

Oil forms in well ventilated spaces and do not
walk on oiled form faces; they are very slippery.

Provide ventilation as necessary during concrete
sealing and/or waterproofing operations. Extra
respiratory protection may be needed.

Access erected forms via ladders.

Eye, hearing and proper respiratory protections
are to be worn during any concrete chipping or
grinding.

Provide flagman to guide mixer trucks while
backing up.

All hazardous material brought on site will be
accompanied by an MSDS.

Masonry

All staging shall be erected properly and placed
on suitable bearing. Toprail, midrail, toeboards
and bracing shall be installed as per OSHA
requirements. Access to staging shall be by the
means of a ladder either as part of the staging
or a separate ladder properly attached to the
staging. All staging will be braced off every
twenty (20) feet vertically and thirty (30) feet
horizontally. Frames shall be locked together
with safety pins or equivalent in the case of up lift.
All work stations to be fully planked off, with
planks secured.

The loading and off-loading of materials to and
from staging shall only be performed while no
one is in the immediate area of the staging.

Provide clear setbacks for non-essential
employees during erection of masonry walls
as required by OSHA.

Brace walls as necessary during and after
construction of masonry walls.

Masonry saws are to be properly guarded as per
manufacturer's recommendations.

Eye, hearing and proper respiratory protection
are to be work during the use of masonry saws
and mixers.

All exposed rebar will have rebar safety caps.

All masonry debris will be cleaned up daily.

All hazardous material brought on site will be
accompanied by and MSDS.

Steel

Inspect cranes daily.
Inspect rigging equipment daily.
Keep crane inspection logs up-to-date and
on site.
Provide barricades around crane swing area
to protect foot traffic.
All employees operating man lifts shall be
trained and certified by the lift supplier.
Provide 100% fall protection for all
employees working near a six (6) foot fall
hazard.
Body harnesses, lanyards, and cable safety
lines, mechanical lifts, or staging will be
used during steel erection.

Carpentry
All electrical power tools are to be in safe
working order, as determined before each
use including power cords and plug ends.
All electrical power tools are always to be
run through GFCI's.
All manufacturer guards and safety devices
will be kept intact and maintained in proper
working order.
Eye protection will be work during all cutting,
drilling, sanding, and pneumatic nailing
procedures.
Proper respiratory protection will be worn
during dust or chip causing actions (such as
sawing, drilling, or during demolition).
Any employee using pneumatic equipment
will be instructed on the proper use of it
prior to its use and documentation will be
forwarded to the safety director.
Use of heavy equipment to handle materials
will be done only by trained personnel.
Provide 100% fall protection when working
near a six (6) foot fall hazard.
Erection and use of staging will be to OSHA
specifications, at least.
Only well braced structurals shall be left
unattended.
Perimeter protectionis required when more
than a four (4) foot drop is involved from a
floor or platform.
No horseplay on the job will be tolerated.
Daily clean-up of debris is required.
Fire extinguishers will be provided by each
contractor and subcontractor during
appropriate work procedures.
All hazardous materials brought on site will
be accompanied by an MSDS.

Insulation

Hardhats and boots are required at all times.
Wear proper eye protection and respiratory
protection as well as proper clothing while
cutting or installing any insulation.
Documentation of respirator training will be
forwarded to PNM Construction's safety director.
100% fall protection is required when working
near a six (6) foot fall hazard.
All hazardous materials brought on site will be
accompanied by an MSDS.

Finish
Hardhats shall be worn at all times. No exceptions
will be allowed.
Provide proper eye protection during the use of
any and all power equipment.
Provide proper hearing protection during the use
of power equipment.
Staging and ladders shall be erected and secured
to meet OSHA specifications.
Toprail, midrail and toeboards or equivalent
shall be installed on all staging erected with
work stations with at least a six (6) foot fall hazard.
All staging is to be accessed via ladders or
ladder frames.
Any employee working more than six (6) feet
above the ground shall be protected from falling.
Provide daily clean up of work area and remove all
debris from same.
All hazardous materials brought on site will be
accompanied by an MSDS

Painting
Hardhats and boots shall be worn at all times.
Store paint in well ventilated areas.
Apply paint in well ventilated areas, provide
additional ventilation if needed, and give
adequate notice to other contractors before
work begins in common areas.
Store thinners and cleaning fluids properly.
All hazardous chemicals shall be labeled properly.
Wear protective clothing, respirators and proper
eye protection as required by manufacturer during
the application of paint. Respirator training record
shall be forwarded to PNM Construction's Safety
director.
Provide 100%  fall protection for any employee
working near at least a six (6) foot fall hazard.
Clean up spills immediately.
Any material brought on site will be accompanied
by an MSDS

Electrical
Provide ground fault breakers for temporary
electrical service.
Provide lock-out  protection for any electrical
work being performed.
Hardhats and boots shall be worn at all times.
Provide proper eye protection during the use
of power equipment.
Provide proper hearing protection during the
use of power equipment.
Staging and ladders shall be erected and
secured to OSHA standards, at least.
Top rail, mid rail and toe boards or equipment
shall be installed on all staging with workstations
with at least a six (6) foot fall hazard.
All staging is to be accessed via ladders or ladder
frames.
Any employee working near a six (6) foot fall
hazard shall have 100% fall protection. Provide
daily clean-up of work area and
remove all debris from same.
All hazardous materials brought on site
will have an MSDS accompanying it.

Sprinkler & Mechanical
All staging will be erected, secured and
accessed as per OSHA standards.
Hardhats and boots will be worn at all times.
Proper eye protection will be used where
applicable.
Proper respiratory protection will be used
where applicable.
Electrical safety standards will be met by
use of GFCI's.
All materials brought on site must have a
MSDS if that material is on the Federal List
of Hazardous substances.
100% fall protection is required when
working near a fall hazard of at least six
(6) feet.
All ladders shall comply with OSHA standards.
Ladders that are split, cracked or damaged
shall be removed from site as soon as practical.

Miscellaneous
All subcontractors are responsible for their
own power cords. These power cords must meet
OSHA specifications and be properly checked for
damage or faults before each use. Defective cords
shall be removed from service at once.
All contractors are required to provide GFCI
protection for all power tools and cords on site.
All contractors are required to provide PNM
Construction, Inc with all written company safety
policies, programs and all MSDS pertinent to this
jobsite before mobilization to the jobsite.
Contractors are held responsible for training their
own employees to the Hazardous Communication
Program and where all safety related written
material is located on site.
Contractors are expected to bring any potential
safety violations to PNM Construction, Inc. or the
Safety Director immediately upon notice of such.
All contractors are responsible for having properly
trained first aid crew members on site with an
adequate safety kits also on site.
Emergency telephone numbers are posted near all
jobsite telephones.
